BARBARA LE BÉGUEC FRIEDMAN (born in 1982) is an artist based in Perpignan, France. In 2005, she began exploring the dialogue between inner and outer landscapes through various media such as drawing, video, sound, installation, and photography. From 2010 to 2017, she focused her research on the confrontation with otherness and began practicing performance art.
Since 2017, the notion of paradox has played a prominent role in her work. Whether it is the idea that nothing exists without its opposite, that absence is a form of presence, or that every border is also a meeting point, she finds a certain beauty in these contradictions, but above all a way to question what appears to be a single, fixed reality.
The aim of her work is to disrupt the comfort of the known and acknowledged. She creates spaces, moments, and actions that allow the viewer or participant to blur the boundaries of what is defined.

En 2005, elle commence à explorer le dialogue entre les paysages intérieurs et extérieurs à travers différents médias tels que le dessin, la vidéo, le son, l'installation et la photographie.
De 2010 à 2017, elle concentre ses recherches sur la confrontation avec l'altérité et commence à pratiquer de l'art performance.
Depuis 2017, la notion de paradoxe occupe une place prépondérante dans son travail. Qu'il s'agisse de l'idée que rien n'existe sans son contraire, que l'absence est une forme de présence, ou que chaque frontière est aussi un point de rencontre, elle trouve dans ces contradictions une certaine beauté, mais surtout un moyen de remettre en question ce qui semble être une réalité unique et figée.
Le but de son travail est de perturber le confort de ce qui est connu et reconnu. Elle crée des espaces, des moments et des actions qui permettent au spectateur ou au participant de rendre poreuses les limites de ce qui est défini.
